Lee

Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of football scholarships for his family and service in the local community. First family, he's the youngest of nine children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie. They grew up on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. In football, he played with his three brothers from Oklahoma. Three of them made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the United States by Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. The three years he was the team's starter, Oklahoma finished 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975, and was selected as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon received a diploma in education. Fourth-year service in college Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. After college he settled in Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers was the all-pro 3 times, and began an entrepreneurial career. In 1988, he was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He also worked with the following organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder that The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as among the top 10 young men across the nation. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 6-2. While he was in college, he commanded the team of 1975. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993 as the associate director of sports. In 1988, he was voted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave their Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
