Heidi Watney (born May 19, 1981) is an American sportscaster and reporter for Apple TV+. Her experience with sportscasting includes assignments at the University of San Diego, New England Sports Network (Boston), Time Warner Cable SportsNet (Los Angeles), and two stations in Fresno. Watney was an Clovis West High School student in Fresno. She participated in gymnastics, hurdles, and diving. [1] She was a National Merit Scholar. She attended the University of San Diego with an academic scholarship. In 2003 she graduated with high distinction. 2 Watney has competed in the Miss California USA pageant, which she won as the first runner-up in 2002. Watney is the cousin of professional golfer Nick Watney. Seven years ago, Andy Weir claimed that he used Watney ?Ts surname in the creation of the character Mark Watney in his science fiction novel The Martian. This was after hearing her name over the Red Sox game broadcast. Watney appears in the music video for Dropkick Murphys ?T single "Going Out in Style". She was also featured as a reporter side-by-side on the video games MLB The Show 19, MLB The Show20, and MLB The Show 21, respectively. [10]
